“TechLads” “I-Secure” ” iServe Solutions” Tech Support Scam | Microsoft Impersonators

July 6th, 2017, I called a toll-free number (877-873-4856) that was listed on a fake web-based pop-up claiming that there was a virus on my computer when there really wasn’t. Upon calling this company, I stated that there was a message on my screen that said that I had a virus. He asked me if I had any security on this computer which I replied, that I did. As expected, the scammer wanted to connect to my machine and “diagnose” the issue. He had me go to the “support12345.com” website and download their software so he could connect to my machine over the internet. Once connected, the scammer asked me for a second time if I had any security on the computer and again, I replied that I did. He then opened CMD and said he was going to “scan” my computer. After the “scan” was complete, you could see him typing out “firewall expired, data not secure.” CMD CANNOT scan for viruses. This scammer ran what’s known as the “tree” command. The tree command simply creates a ‘tree’ listing of all the files on your computer and does not scan for viruses. Next, the scammer goes and opens CMD once again and runs the “netstat” command which shows the incoming and outgoing connections over the TCP protocol. He lies and states that the “Foreign Addresses” are “persons” trying to connect to my computer. This is false, those connections are the connections of the GoToAssist service he is using to connect to my computer and the connections to the internet since he had IE open. Last but not least, the scammer goes on to tell me what he is going to do to “fix” the computer that doesn’t have anything wrong with it. He states that my computer needs a “Level 3 Microsoft Team” and that they are going to “Remove all the bad users” and Refill all the “holes”… stupid garbage that tricks you into paying. Finally, I asked the scammer if I have any security on this computer, he stated that I don’t, even though Comodo is clearly visible and I had stated twice that I had security when he asked. Later on, I ask for a company website multiple times and each time I ask he fails to provide the site. He claimed he was the “Online Microsoft Support.”
